Hi guys! I’m back today with another installment of “Lit Life Wedding Chat”, featuring Creative Director Holly Taylor of Lola Bear Design. Check out our interview below.

Name: Holly Taylor
Company: Lola Bear Design
What inspired you to enter the wedding and special events industry?
I was inspired to enter this industry because I truly love to design. Bringing a client’s vision to life is so fulfilling. There are times when I’m exhausted and stretched thin, but every time I complete a project and deliver the final product to a satisfied client it makes it all worth it.
Why did you start Lola Bear Design?
I’ve always been creative, but I never dreamed of becoming a creative entrepreneur. My first design project actually involved planning for my baby shower. Everyone was so impressed with the custom items that I had designed. From there, I taught myself graphic design and continued to work on custom items for my daughter’s birthday party and my next baby shower while pregnant with my son. My love for design grew with every new project. I eventually started my business to not only supplement my income (I’m an elementary school teacher), but to have a creative outlet.
Describe your design services you provide?
I provide creative design services for weddings, special events, and businesses. I specialize in adding custom details to any event. My design services include event and business logo design, wedding invitations, special event invitations, signage, custom party decor, and so much more.
If you could change one thing about the weddings and special events industry, what would it be?
The one thing I would change is saving the details for last. Clients will wait until a few weeks before their event to request custom designs. The time it takes to design custom items is underestimated and the design process is so important. It takes time to find inspiration, design, get approval from clients, make edits, and so much more. I would suggest contacting the person in charge of designing custom details early in the planning process, and allowing this person to be apart of planning meetings. Many times we can provide input and insist in overall design for an event.
How do you deliver the client experience you want to?
In order to deliver the client experience I want, I get to know my clients. There are some clients who are very hands-on in the design process, and there are others that prefer to provide inspiration and let me work my magic. Getting to know my clients allows me to create the right experience.
If you weren’t the Founder of Lola Bear Design what would you be doing instead, or what would your life be like?
I have been teaching for 12 years, so if I wasn’t the founder of Lola Bear Designs, I would probably start a business that is related to education. I love to read and literacy is very important to me. I would probably have started an educational consulting business or a nonprofit to help increase literacy in underserved communities.
Is there anything you’re particularly excited about working on this year?
I have been working with a bride to design tropical beach inspired invites and they are GORGEOUS. I can’t wait to have the invites printed and in the couple’s hands. I am excited to see these invites come to life.
